Pay Your Electricity Bill Through 1Link — Pakistan's Bill Payment Network
What it is. 1Link is a Pakistan-wide interbank payment switch that carries electricity bill lookups and payments between banks/wallets and every DISCO's PITC billing platform. If your bank or wallet can pay your LESCO/MEPCO/etc. bill, it is using 1Link under the hood.
Step by step
- Open any bank or wallet app that is a 1Link member.
- Navigate to 'Utility Bill Payments' or 'Electricity'.
- Select your DISCO.
- Enter your 14-digit reference number — 1Link queries PITC for your current bill amount.
- Confirm and pay. 1Link settles the transaction between your bank and the DISCO.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Single rail behind every major Pakistani payment app — you do not need separate accounts.
- Standardised bill format means the same reference number works everywhere.
- Authorised and audited by the State Bank of Pakistan.
Cons:
- You cannot use 1Link directly — always via a member bank or wallet.
- Occasional platform maintenance windows (rare) can delay lookups.
Frequently asked questions
Does 1Link charge me a fee?
No. Banks and wallets absorb the interchange fee; end-users typically pay zero on electricity bill payments.
How can I tell if my app uses 1Link?
If the bill list mentions '1Link utility billers' or if the transaction SMS references a 1Link/UP code, the payment is routed through 1Link.
