Pay Your Electricity Bill at an ATM or Bank Branch in Pakistan
What it is. Most Pakistani bank ATMs include a 'Bills Payment' menu wired into 1Link, and every branch counter accepts cash for any utility bill via a deposit slip.
Step by step
- Insert your ATM card and enter PIN.
- Select 'Bills Payment' → 'Utility' → 'Electricity'.
- Choose your DISCO and enter your 14-digit reference number.
- Confirm the amount and complete. Collect the printed slip.
- For a branch counter: hand the paper bill and cash to the teller; they stamp the bill and hand back the consumer copy.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Works when you do not have a smartphone or data.
- Paper stamp on the bill is accepted by any DISCO office.
- Cash-pay at branch counter is still supported nationwide.
Cons:
- ATM cash withdrawal limits do not apply, but transaction timeouts can if you pause.
- Branch counters have business hours; a 24/7 ATM or app is faster.
Frequently asked questions
Which ATMs can I use?
Any ATM displaying the 1Link logo accepts bill payments. That covers essentially every bank ATM in Pakistan.
Can I pay someone else's bill?
Yes — a bill is identified by reference number, not consumer name. Friends and family commonly pay each other's bills.
