Commercial Electricity Tariffs in Pakistan — Context for Solar

Plain-language notes on commercial (A-2) and similar categories: demand charges, time-of-use, and why commercial solar ROI differs from residential.

What makes commercial bills different

Commercial and small-business connections often include demand (kW) or time-of-use (TOU) components that residential slabs do not emphasise. Peak demand in the evening can dominate cost even when total kWh is moderate.

Solar production peaks near midday; commercial load may peak in early evening or late afternoon depending on the business. That mismatch affects self-consumption value and export potential.

Sizing for tariff shape

A good commercial study combines interval load data (if available), tariff windows, and proposed inverter behaviour. Oversizing without load alignment can waste export capacity.
