Industrial Tariffs, TOU & Solar Production Alignment

How industrial time-of-use windows and peak demand charges interact with solar generation curves in Pakistan.

Disclaimer: This page is general information only. Tariffs, net-metering rules, and DISCO procedures change—verify with your distribution company and official NEPRA materials before making purchase or wiring decisions.

TOU and the solar curve

Industrial TOU meters charge different rates across peak, shoulder, and off-peak blocks. Solar often overlaps the midday shoulder or off-peak more than the evening peak—when factories may still run heavy loads.

Battery storage or load shifting can improve alignment with expensive TOU blocks, but adds capital and maintenance cost.

Practical takeaway

Industrial solar economics should be modelled with your actual tariff schedule and demand history, not a generic rupee-per-kWh guess.
