Solar Electrical Safety — AC, DC & Shutdown Basics

Non-technical safety basics for homeowners: why DC wiring is not DIY, and what shutdown procedures mean during maintenance.

Disclaimer: This page is general information only. Tariffs, net-metering rules, and DISCO procedures change—verify with your distribution company and official NEPRA materials before making purchase or wiring decisions.

Respect DC and AC zones

Solar arrays produce live DC whenever the sun shines; only qualified installers should open combiner boxes or touch string wiring. AC-side work also needs licensed electricians.

Know where your inverter AC isolator and DC isolators are, but do not bypass them without training.
